Riesling from the steepest vineyards of Europe
“Nature’s amphitheater, where on narrow, protruding edges the vine prospers to be its very best”. This is how Goethe already described our small spot of earth.
Thank you for your interest. We are pleased to share some information with you about our winery, the local scenery and our people.
With lots of joy and energy, we work in the deepest slate terraces of two of our region’s vineyards called “Neefer Frauenberg” and “Bremmer Calmont”. In these extreme vineyards, where you can smell the slate, feel the stored warmth of the earth and taste the rock on your tongue, grow our Riesling vines. Some of these vines are 50 to 60 years old. The small, ripe Riesling grapes are picked gently and selectively by hand. Experience and love of the wine, help the vintner produce Riesling wine that is full of individuality and character.
We invite you to come and enjoy our wine with us and taste the difference of the wines from Frauenberg and Calmont yourself. It is important to us that you and your guests smell, taste and experience the steep slate terraces of our vineyards, each time you open a bottle of our wines. We’d like to say “cheers and enjoy” and toast you and one of the most beautiful wine growing regions of the world – the Moselle valley.
Sincerely,
Ulrich and Iris Franzen
